make easy to chat for new users

I have just installed as a debutant user and after three days still I cannot figure out how to open chats with my two users. This is an internal install on my NAS drive. All works as far as i can tell, except that I cannot do the one ting I installed it to do, which is to provide an internal chat system within my LAN. No website.

Have you considered opening 2 browsers and having a chat window in one and the management window in another and chat to yourself to get the feeling of how it works?
